Mike Johnston to Host Spanish-Language Town Hall on DACA Saturday

Mike Johnston, Democratic candidate for Colorado governor, will host a town hall event Saturday morning to hear community concerns about President Trump’s recent decision to end protections for children of undocumented immigrants to the U.S.

Johnston, who is bilingual, will host the event in Spanish and English to maximize the number of voices being heard on this important issue.
“Since the possibility of rolling back DACA’s protections was first discussed last week in Washington, we have heard from so many in the community who are fearful, and have so many questions about what it might mean for them and their families,” Johnston said. “Since entering this race in January, I have wanted to host a town hall in Spanish, and this seems like the right time to talk about DACA and other issues.”

Johnston is believed to be the first gubernatorial candidate in Colorado history to conduct a town hall in Spanish.

The event will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday September 9 at the Montview Math and Health Sciences Elementary School, 2055 Moline St. in Aurora, and will be open to the press and public.
