Combating The Climate Crisis & Protecting Our Environment and Public Lands
Mike believes we must respond to the climate crisis and protect future generations from the threat of climate change. He supports a Green New Deal that would move America to 100% clean energy and eliminate the carbon pollution that causes climate change by the year 2040. The moral, health, and economic arguments could not be clearer. The opportunity to strengthen our economy and put fellow Americans to work building a clean and healthy future could not be more important.
Mike has fought this battle before.
In the state Senate he championed legislation that successfully increased our renewable energy standards and made Colorado the first state in the country to require oil and gas companies to capture dangerous methane gas. He is ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with this rising generation to take on the big oil and coal companies and lead a Green New Deal.
As a native Coloradan, Mike also understands the importance of protecting our public lands so Coloradans and visitors can continue to hike, fish and hunt on these state treasures. He supports not only permanently funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund, but going further by passing Senator Bennet’s CORE Act, which would preserve an additional 400,000 acres of federal land in Colorado. And he will fight any efforts by Donald Trump or Mitch McConnell to sell off our national parks and monuments.
