Denver, CO – Mike Johnston for Governor unveiled its Technology & Innovation For Good policy today, in advance of a forward-looking conversation with Reid Hoffman, Co-Founder of LinkedIn, on how to build a thriving economy and workforce here in Colorado.
The launch caught the attention of Aneesh Chopra, former US Chief Technology Officer under President Obama, who endorsed Johnston’s policy saying, “Mike Johnston’s innovation agenda is exactly what Colorado’s economy needs to ensure it works for everyone, especially in preparing families for the jobs and industries of the future.”
Kumar Garg, a Science & Technology Advisor under President Obama, also weighed in: “The people of Colorado need leaders who work hard every day to win the future, not the news cycle. The investments we make today — in STEM education, in broadband, in entrepreneurship — will make sure all of us can thrive in our rapidly-changing economy and democracy. I’m heartened to see Mike Johnston’s bold science and technology vision for Colorado and I hope many other candidates nationally and locally follow in his footsteps.”
Johnston’s vision for talent, opportunity and a 21st-century government is broad reaching and includes plans to expand broadband access, offer computer science classes in all high schools, launch an innovation fellowship, continue investing in rural economic development, and embrace technology expertise at the policy table.
